DC Action for Children Announces New Executive Director

The Board of Directors of DC Action for Children are pleased to announce the appointment of Kimberly Perry as the new Executive Director.

Ms. Perry was brought on as Interim Executive Director in June and immediately took steps to grow and expand DC Action for Children. She has already set a vision to achieve racial equity in policies geared toward children and youth. True to her entrepreneurial style, she is ramping up the organization's resources, human capital, and networks in order to build political power and effectively break down structural barriers that stand in the way of all kids reaching their full potential.

Ms. Perry brings more than 20 years of experience as an advocate for children and families and has a proven record of success in nonprofit management, policy advocacy, and civic engagement. She is most well known as Founding Director of DC Hunger Solutions, Vice President of the Clinton Foundation’s Alliance for a Healthier Generation, Executive Director of DC Vote, as well as other advisory roles in political campaigns, public policy advocacy and philanthropy.

Ms. Perry serves on the Board of Directors of the Congressional Hunger Center, the DC Community Housing Trust, and is Chair of Highest Ground.

"Our Board and staff are excited about what is to come for our kids in the District of Columbia. With Kim's experience and her leadership, DC Action for Children is poised to capitalize on its 27-year history of child advocacy while expanding its mission to amplify the needs of young people, creating real change and equity that will move the needle and draw national attention to our work.  We welcome Kim back to the local policy advocacy community and are encouraged by her passion to create a more equitable DC where all children and youth have the ability to flourish," said Board Chair Warren Romine.
